Safety Relays

A safety relay or control unit monitors the light curtain, door switch and emergency stop signals and safely interrupts the machine’s power circuit. This card covers Omron’s slim G9SE and G9SB, the expandable G9SA (including a two-hand controller), the DIP-switch-configured G9SR safety relay units, the pre-configured G9SX safety controller and the G7SA relays with forcibly guided contacts; and Panasonic’s SF-C21 safety control unit that makes building safety circuits easy. Note: the Telemecanique Sensors catalogue has no safety relays; only Omron and Panasonic products appear on this card. Input count, number of safety outputs and OFF-delay needs are chosen to match the application.

Panasonic’s SF-C21 safety control unit (Cat. 4, PLe, SILCL3) combines light curtains, door switches, emergency-stop and enable switches in one unit with 2×4 safety inputs, 2×2 PNP control outputs and 4 auxiliary outputs; the SF-C10 series are dedicated light-curtain control units — the connector-connected SF-C11 and the slim SF-C13. All models below are verified against the manufacturer’s (industry.panasonic.com) current catalogue.
