Safety Light Curtains

A safety light curtain stops the machine when a hand, finger or body enters the beam field between emitter and receiver; it replaces a physical barrier at access points to hazardous zones. This card covers Panasonic’s compact and robust SF4D, compact SF4B-C and ultra-slim SF4C (Type 4, PLe, SIL3) and ultra-slim SF2C (Type 2, PLc, SIL1) light curtains, the flameproof-structure BSF4-AH80 and the single-beam ST4 safety sensor; Omron’s F3SG-SR/PG covering every application from machine openings to perimeter guarding, the advanced F3SG-RA, the F3SG-RE for simple ON/OFF detection and the F3SJ series, plus the single-beam E3ZS safety sensor; and Telemecanique’s Preventa XUSL series (Type 4, SIL 3, PLe; 14 mm finger / 30 mm hand detection, 2-, 3- and 4-beam body protection) and the XUSL4M with integrated muting. Where area protection is needed, as on AGVs and robot cells, Omron’s OS32C safety laser scanner is also an option. Protective height, resolution (finger/hand/body) and safety level are chosen to match the application.

Panasonic’s light curtains: the compact and robust SF4D (finger/hand/arm types, 44 heights; three representative heights per type here), the compact SF4B-C, the ultra-slim SF4C (Type 4, PLe, SIL3) and ultra-slim SF2C (Type 2, PLc, SIL1) with their shortest and tallest models, the flameproof BSF4-AH80 and the single-beam ST4 safety sensor (head + controller). Intermediate heights and accessories (cables, mounting brackets, SFD-WL3 IO-Link module) are selected from the manufacturer’s (industry.panasonic.com) current catalogue; all models are verified there.
