The Omron F3SJ series consists of Type 4 safety light curtains that can be selected according to the production environment. The series defines the EASY type (F3SJ-E) for simple and affordable hand protection, the BASIC type (F3SJ-B) with muting and series connection, and the ADVANCED type (F3SJ-A) for finger protection and series connection. The manufacturer’s current ordering table lists F3SJ-A models: finger protection with 14 mm resolution and 9 mm beam gap, and hand/arm protection with 30 mm resolution and 25 mm beam gap. F3SJ-A offers a wide variety of muting and blanking functions.
According to the manufacturer’s data, F3SJ-A is a Type 4 device to IEC 61496-1, reaching SIL3 to IEC 61508 and PL e, Category 4 to EN ISO 13849-1. The operating range is 0.2 to 9 m, or 0.2 to 7 m for protective heights of 1,655 mm or more. Two PNP safety outputs carry up to 300 mA load current. Functions include start and restart interlock, external device monitoring (EDM), muting, and fixed and floating blanking. Up to 4 sets with a total of 400 beams can be connected in series. Connection is via an M12 8-pin connector.
