HIKROBOT MV-CH120-20GM — Area Scan Cameras

The MV-CH120-20GM is the GigE monochrome model that brings the 12 MP class of the CH family to the OnSemi XGS12000 sensor. This 1″ global shutter CMOS sensor with 3.2 μm pixels delivers 4096 × 3072 resolution at up to 9.6 fps in Mono 8, with 40 dB SNR and 66.4 dB dynamic range. Its exposure envelope differs from the other members: 52–161 μs in UltraShort mode and 162 μs to 10 s in standard mode.
The Gigabit Ethernet interface is backward compatible with Fast Ethernet and the manufacturer specifies 100 meters of transmission without a relay; PoE support lets one cable carry data and power, with a typical draw of 2.6 W at 12 VDC. The 6-pin P7 connector provides an opto-isolated input, an opto-isolated output and a bi-directional non-isolated line, and LSC, Sequencer and passive transmission are built in. The 29 × 29 × 42 mm, roughly 100 g C-mount body mounts from four sides, operates from –10 °C to 50 °C and complies with GigE Vision 2.0 / GenICam.

Where it is used
A 9.6 fps rate with 3.2 μm pixels points to tasks where motion is limited but detail per field of view has to be high: single-frame dimensional measurement of large parts, defect mapping on flat glass and panel surfaces, and wide-area code reading in warehousing and logistics. The 100 m reach and PoE make it economical to distribute cameras across stations along long lines. Mono output provides the data needed for contrast-based gauging and metrology.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
