HIKROBOT MV-CH040-A0CM — Area Scan Cameras
4 MP, 1″ CMOS, Camera Link, Mono, 180 fps

The MV-CH040-A0CM is the 4 MP monochrome member of the Camera Link branch of HIKROBOT’s CH high-resolution series. Its 1″ global shutter CMOS sensor delivers a square 2048 × 2048 image from 5.5 μm × 5.5 μm pixels, and a frame rate of 180 fps in Mono 8 is what sets it apart in this resolution class. The camera pairs 39.6 dB SNR and 59.7 dB dynamic range with an exposure window that runs from 28 μs up to 10 seconds.
Image data leaves the camera over a Camera Link interface with an SDR connector; Base, Medium, Full and 80-bit configuration modes are supported, so bandwidth is matched to the frame grabber, and triggering can also be driven from the grabber through the CC1–CC4 lines. A 6-pin P7 connector carries power and I/O with one opto-isolated input (Line 0), one opto-isolated output (Line 1) and one bi-directional non-isolated line (Line 2), alongside hardware trigger, software trigger and free-run modes. Power is 9–24 VDC with PoCL support and a typical draw of 3.6 W at 12 VDC; the 44 × 29 × 59 mm C-mount body weighs about 100 g, is rated IP40 and operates from -10 °C to 50 °C, with Camera Link V2.0 and GenICam compatibility.

Where it is used
The combination of a square 2048 × 2048 frame and 180 fps suits dimensional checks on parts in motion and high-throughput sorting on fast production lines. Large 5.5 μm pixels gather enough light at short exposures, making the camera a candidate for electronics assembly inspection under strobed lighting, measurement of round components where a square field of view is more efficient than a rectangular one, and position verification on high-cadence packaging lines.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
