HIKROBOT MV-SC3016C-15M-WBN — Smart Cameras & Vision Sensors

The MV-SC3016C-15M-WBN shares the same 1.6 MP, 1/2.9″ global-shutter CMOS platform as its SC3000 colour siblings, with a 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm pixel size, 1408 × 1024 resolution and up to 60 fps. Gain spans 0-15 dB, exposure 16 µs to 1 s, and both Mono 8 and RGB 8 pixel formats are supported. What sets it apart within the family is its longer 14.8 mm mechanical (motorised) focal length on the M12-mount lens: stepping up the focal length narrows the field of view while extending the effective working distance, an optical trade-off worth noting when selecting between siblings.

Starting from the communication and electrical side: RS-232, TCP, UDP, FTP, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MELSEC/SLMP, FINS and Keyence KV protocols run over a Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit/s) interface, and a single 17-pin M12 connector combines power, Ethernet, digital I/O and serial communication with input, output and bidirectional configurable lines. Power is 24 VDC, drawing 13.8 W on average and up to 42 W at peak. On the vision side, measurement tools (point-to-point, point-to-line, contrast, greyscale area, pitch, width, average brightness, colour measurement/area, angle and diameter measurements) sit alongside presence/absence detection, with up to 32 stored programs and import/export support. The unit adds a semi-polarised lens cover, a 14-LED white/red/blue light source, PWR/LNK/STS/OK-NG indicators, measures 65.2 × 65.2 × 47 mm at about 280 g, and carries an IP67 rating.

Where it is used

The 14.8 mm focal length narrows the field of view compared with the family’s 12.4 mm model, in exchange for a longer effective working distance. That makes it a better fit for colour measurement stations where the camera must sit further back from the target, or where smaller or more distant features need to be resolved — the same sensor, but a narrower and deeper cone of view.
