HIKROBOT MV-SC3016C-12M-WBN — Smart Cameras & Vision Sensors

The MV-SC3016C-12M-WBN is a 1.6 MP colour vision sensor from the SC3000 family. Its global-shutter CMOS sensor has a 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm pixel size and a 1/2.9″ optical format, delivering 1408 × 1024 resolution at up to 60 fps. Gain ranges from 0 to 15 dB and exposure time from 16 µs to 1 s, with Mono 8 and RGB 8 pixel formats supported. The M12-mount lens uses mechanical (motorised) focus at a 12.4 mm focal length — a mid-range choice that balances field of view against working distance, suited to applications where colour discrimination between parts matters.

Onboard vision tools cover measurement (point-to-point, point-to-line, contrast, greyscale area, pitch, width, average brightness, colour measurement, colour area, line-to-line angle, diameter, line angle) alongside presence/absence detection, with storage for up to 32 programs and import/export support. Communication is handled over RS-232, TCP, UDP, FTP, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MELSEC/SLMP, FINS and Keyence KV, through a Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit/s) data interface. A single 17-pin M12 connector combines power, Ethernet, digital I/O and serial lines, offering input, output and bidirectional configurable channels. Power draw is 24 VDC, averaging 13.8 W and peaking at 42 W. The unit ships with a semi-polarised lens cover, a 14-LED white/red/blue light source, PWR/LNK/STS/OK-NG status LEDs, measures 65.2 × 65.2 × 47 mm at roughly 280 g, and reaches IP67 when properly sealed.

Where it is used

The 12.4 mm focal length gives a moderate field of view and working distance — neither the widest angle for close, large targets nor the narrowest for distant detail — making it a general-purpose fit for standard mounting distances on a line. It suits inspection or measurement stations where colour-based part or label discrimination is needed and the camera-to-target gap is a typical mid-range setup rather than an unusually cramped or extended one.
