HIKROBOT MV-SC3050XC-12M-WBN-S — Smart Cameras & Vision Sensors

With a 12 mm focal length, the MV-SC3050XC-12M-WBN-S is a 5.0-megapixel (2432×2048) color vision sensor from HIKROBOT’s single-cable SC3000X-S family. Its CMOS global shutter sensor has a 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm pixel size and a 1/1.45″ optical format, running at up to 40 fps with a 0-15 dB gain range and 6 µs to 1 s exposure times; pixel format covers Mono 8 and RGB 8. The M12-mount lens has mechanical (motorised) focus aimed at capturing detail on mid-range targets through a narrower field of view. The lens cover combines fully transparent, polarised and diffuser layers, with a standard focused white light source and optional red/blue/infrared sources.

What sets this model apart is pairing the 12 mm focal length with the -S family’s compact 43×57×45.9 mm, roughly 200 g body; the indicator is multi-angle and the protection rating is IP65 — replacing the flat/right-angle mounting options and 360° indicator of the same-focal-length standard model with a single, shorter body and single-cable installation. Communication runs through a 17-pin M12 connector that combines power, Ethernet, digital I/O and serial communication (2 inputs on Line0/1, 3 outputs on Line5/6/7, 3 configurable bidirectional I/O on Line2/3/4); on the PLC/SCADA side, RS-232, TCP, UDP, FTP, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MELSEC/SLMP, FINS and Keyence KV are supported over 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet, with up to 32 programs storable. The vision-tool set covers point-to-point, point-to-line, contrast, greyscale area, pitch, width, average brightness, line-to-line angle, colour measurement, colour area, diameter and line-angle measurements alongside blob/edge/contour presence-absence checks; power supply is 24 VDC with typical consumption of 6.5 W.

Where it is used

While the 12 mm focal length delivers detailed imaging at mid-range distances, the -S family’s single-cable 17-pin connector is an advantage on stations where installation space is tight and there is no room for separate power/I/O/serial cables. This combination suits mid-range inspection points where cable management takes priority over the mounting flexibility of the flat/right-angle standard body — for example inside narrow enclosures or on moving equipment.
