HIKROBOT MV-SC3050XC-08M-WBN-S — Smart Cameras & Vision Sensors

The MV-SC3050XC-08M-WBN-S is a 5.0-megapixel (2432×2048) color vision sensor from HIKROBOT’s single-cable SC3000X-S family. Its CMOS global shutter sensor has a 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm pixel size and a 1/1.45″ optical format, reaching up to 40 fps with a gain range of 0-15 dB and exposure times from 6 µs to 1 s; pixel format covers Mono 8 and RGB 8. The M12-mount lens features mechanical (motorised) focus, and on this model the focal length is 8 mm — a short focal length chosen for a wide field of view and short working distance in close-range applications. The lens cover combines fully transparent, polarised and diffuser layers, and besides the standard focused white light source, optional red/blue/infrared light sources are available.

On the vision-tool side, this model provides measurement functions (point-to-point, point-to-line, contrast, greyscale area, pitch, width, average brightness, line-to-line angle, colour measurement, colour area, diameter and line angle) together with presence/absence checks such as blob, edge and contour detection; PLC/SCADA connectivity runs over RS-232, TCP, UDP, FTP, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MELSEC/SLMP, FINS and Keyence KV via 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet, with up to 32 programs stored and importable/exportable. What sets the -S family apart is a single 17-pin M12 connector that combines power, Ethernet, digital I/O and serial communication in one cable (2 inputs on Line0/1, 3 outputs on Line5/6/7, 3 configurable bidirectional I/O on Line2/3/4) — reducing wiring to one cable instead of the separate power/I/O runs used on the 12-pin standard models. The compact 43×57×45.9 mm body weighs about 200 g, carries a multi-angle indicator light, and is rated IP65; power supply is 24 VDC with typical consumption of 6.5 W.

Where it is used

The 8 mm focal length gives a wide field of view and short working distance, making this model well suited to close-range inspection points mounted right above the line or in a tight installation space. Because the -S family’s single-cable 17-pin M12 connector combines power, Ethernet, I/O and serial in one run instead of separate cables, it suits compact stations with limited cable routing or lines where equipment is frequently repositioned. The wide angle of view also makes it easier to capture an entire small part’s surface in a single frame.
