HIKROBOT MV-SC3030XM-12M-WBN — Smart Cameras & Vision Sensors

Another member of the SC3000X family, the MV-SC3030XM-12M-WBN is a 3.0-megapixel mono smart camera. Its CMOS global shutter sensor, with 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm pixels and a 1/1.8″ optical format, delivers 2048 × 1536 resolution at up to 40 fps; gain ranges from 0 to 15 dB, exposure from 6 µs to 1 s, and the pixel format is Mono 8. The lens is M12-mount with mechanical (motorised) focus and a 12 mm focal length. Compared with the family’s 8 mm model, this gives a narrower field of view and a longer working distance, suiting stations where the camera sits a bit further from the target and a balanced ratio of coverage to detail is needed. The lens cover is fully transparent + polarised + diffuser, and the light source is focused white with optional red/blue/infrared.

Electrically, the unit runs on 24 VDC and draws a typical 6.5 W; a 12-pin M12 connector combines power and I/O in one cable, providing 3 opto-isolated inputs (LINE0/1/2), 3 opto-isolated outputs (LINE3/4/5) and 1 RS-232 line, with top-button triggering also supported. The data interface is 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet, integrating with PLC and SCADA systems via RS-232, TCP, UDP, FTP, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MELSEC/SLMP, FINS and Keyence KV. On the vision side, point-to-point, point-to-line, contrast, greyscale area, pitch, width, average brightness, line-to-line angle, diameter and line angle measurements are offered along with blob, edge and contour presence checks; up to 32 programs can be stored and imported/exported. The IP67-rated housing operates from 0 °C to 50 °C and is CE/KC certified.

Where it is used

The 12 mm focal length offers a narrower angle and longer working distance than the 8 mm model, making it a balanced choice for general-purpose assembly stations where the camera is fixed a bit further from the target and mid-sized parts need both their overall shape and moderate detail assessed at once. The 40 fps frame rate and 0-15 dB gain range allow exposure to be tuned across varying line-speed lighting conditions, while the 32-program capacity makes it easy to inspect several product variants in sequence at the same station.
