HIKROBOT MV-SC3013XM-12M-WBN — Smart Cameras & Vision Sensors

The 1.3-megapixel MV-SC3013XM-12M-WBN runs its global shutter CMOS sensor at a 1/1.45″ optical format with 6.9 µm × 6.9 µm pixels. Alongside 1216 × 1024 resolution and up to 60 fps, it offers gain from 0 dB to 15 dB and exposure from 6 µs to 1 s. The Mono 8 pixel format is optimised for grayscale-based measurement and defect-detection tasks. Its M12-mount lens uses mechanical/motorised focus fixed at 12 mm; compared with the 8 mm variant, this mid-range focal length narrows the field of view and extends the working distance for finer detail resolution on the target — a balanced choice between wide and narrow angles.

Powered at 24 VDC with typical 6.5 W consumption, the MV-SC3013XM-12M-WBN provides 3 opto-isolated inputs, 3 opto-isolated outputs and RS-232 through a 12-pin M12 connector; the top button can also trigger it. Communication runs over RS-232, TCP, UDP, FTP, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, MELSEC/SLMP, FINS and Keyence KV protocols with a 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet interface. It has a fully transparent + polarised + diffuser lens cover, a focused white light source also offered in red/blue/infrared, a 360° body indicator light and an orange LED aiming light; body size is 80.1×43×44.3 mm (flat-angle) or 58.5×43×65.4 mm (right-angle), weight ~190 g, protection rating IP67. Vision tools include point-to-point/point-to-line measurement, contrast, greyscale area, pitch/width, average brightness, line-to-line angle, and diameter/angle measurement, plus blob/edge/contour presence detection; up to 32 programs can be stored with import/export support.

Where it is used

The 12 mm focal length, paired with monochrome imaging, suits inspection points that — compared with the 8 mm variant — need a narrower angle and longer working distance to clearly resolve contrast- and edge-based detail on a single part from mid-range. At a station where colour information isn’t needed but geometric measurement precision is, such as measuring a component’s edge line or hole diameter, this focal length is a good fit. The camera can sit a bit further back from the line, keeping neighbouring parts out of the frame.

Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
