The highest frame rate in this group belongs to the MV-CS050-80UM: its 2/3-inch global shutter SS CMOS sensor with 3.45 μm pixels outputs 80 fps at 2448 × 2048 in Mono 8. This monochrome USB 3.0 model in the CS series small and medium resolution family offers 41.7 dB SNR and 60.9 dB dynamic range; gain spans 0–12 dB and exposure can be shortened to 15 μs, with 10 s as the upper limit. More than three times the frame rate of the GigE version of the same sensor is a direct result of the data path the USB 3.0 interface provides.
The USB 3.0 link is USB 2.0 compatible and powers the camera at a typical 1.6 W at 5 VDC; external 9–24 VDC supply and the I/O lines are taken from the 6-pin P7 connector. The opto-isolated input (Line 0) serves hardware triggering, the opto-isolated output (Line 1) drives lighting or PLC feedback, and the bi-directional Line 2 is left for flexible use; software trigger and a Sequencer are also present. The 29 × 29 × 30 mm body weighs about 87 g, mounts from four sides and is rated IP40; it is USB3 Vision and GenICam compliant.

Where it is used
Five megapixels of monochrome at 80 fps is for applications that run on fast lines without giving up full resolution: cap and fill-level checks on filling machines, surface defect scanning on continuously moving web materials (film, paper, foil) and part position verification on high-speed pick-and-place robots. Exposure down to 15 μs, combined with strobed light, suppresses motion blur. Laboratory uses such as vibration analysis and recording fast assembly processes are also a good fit.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
