For applications that want color imagery at 80 frames per second, the CS series answer is the MV-CS050-80UC. Its 2/3-inch global shutter SS CMOS sensor with 3.45 μm pixels delivers 80 fps at 2448 × 2048 in Bayer BG 8, backed by 41.8 dB SNR, 61.8 dB dynamic range, 0–12 dB gain and a 15 μs–10 s exposure window. Among the USB 3.0 color models in this 5 MP group it is the member with the highest frame rate; it runs at the same speed as its monochrome sibling and adds YUV422 and RGB 8/BGR 8 output.
The camera both transfers data over USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) and draws a typical 1.6 W at 5 VDC from it; for fixed installations it also accepts 9–24 VDC via the P7 connector. On the color side there are Super Palette and Super Bayer, auto or manual white balance, LUT and Gamma adjustment; on the trigger side, hardware and software triggering and a Sequencer. The opto-isolated input and output with the bi-directional Line 2, the roughly 87 g, 29 × 29 × 30 mm C-mount body and USB3 Vision/GenICam compliance make it easy to attach to existing vision software.

Where it is used
Lines that need color discrimination at high speed are this camera’s target: rapid counting and sorting of small colored products such as confectionery and capsules, inspection of multi-color printed foil on the reel, and high-tempo assembly checks of colored wire harnesses. The 15 μs minimum exposure allows fast-moving colored objects to be frozen without smear. It can also serve scientific imaging such as sports and motion analysis where color high-speed recording is wanted.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
