HIKROBOT MV-CS020-10GM — Area Scan Cameras

The MV-CS020-10GM is a 2 MP monochrome area-scan camera in the small and medium resolution GigE branch of the CS series. Its 1/1.7-inch Sony IMX430 global shutter CMOS sensor, with 4.5 μm × 4.5 μm pixels, delivers 60 fps at 1624 × 1240. A 43.8 dB SNR and 72.1 dB dynamic range keep detail in scenes that mix bright and dark regions in the same frame, while the UltraShort exposure mode of 1 μs to 5 μs gives applications that need to suppress motion blur a dedicated option.
The Gigabit Ethernet interface is backward compatible with Fast Ethernet, and PoE support lets a single network cable carry both data and power; a 9–24 VDC external supply can be used instead. The 6-pin P7 connector provides one opto-isolated input (Line 0), one opto-isolated output (Line 1) and one bi-directional non-isolated I/O (Line 2), with hardware trigger, software trigger and free-run modes available. The 29 × 29 × 42 mm housing weighs about 100 g and has mounting holes on four sides for tight spaces; GigE Vision V2.0 and GenICam compliance means it works with third-party software built on those standards. Typical power draw is 2.8 W at 12 VDC.

Where it is used
Two-megapixel monochrome resolution at 60 fps is a balanced fit for presence, position and orientation checks on medium-speed assembly lines. Tasks where contrast and object geometry matter more than color — barcode and DataMatrix reading, edge and gap measurement, fill-level inspection — favour the mono sensor. The UltraShort exposure mode is worth considering at stations that snapshot fast-moving parts.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
