HIKROBOT MV-CS016-10UM V5 — Area Scan Cameras

The MV-CS016-10UM V5 is the V5 release of the 1.6 MP monochrome USB3.0 camera in the CS series, and its datasheet lists a typical power draw of 1.7 W at 5 VDC. The Sony® IMX273 global shutter CMOS (1/2.9-inch, 3.45 μm × 3.45 μm) keeps 249.1 fps at 1440 × 1080; SNR is 39.8 dB, dynamic range 70.8 dB, gain 0–17 dB. UltraShort mode exposes from 1–14 μs and standard mode from 15 μs to 10 s.
Power and data arrive over USB3.0; the external supply range is 9–24 VDC and USB2.0 ports remain usable. Triggering can be hardware, software or free-run, and the 6-pin P7 connector provides the opto-isolated input (Line 0), opto-isolated output (Line 1) and bi-directional non-isolated Line 2. Sequencer, contrast ratio, white balance and gamma correction are supported; the 29 × 29 × 30 mm, about 80 g body mounts from four sides, storage temperature extends to 80 °C, and USB3.0 Vision / GenICam connect it to third-party software.

Where it is used
The low power draw eases hub capacity and thermal budget in multi-camera USB-powered rigs and is an advantage in portable or battery-backed measurement devices. Monochrome imaging at 249.1 fps fits position and presence checks on fast filling and labelling lines, edge detection on thin-section parts and high-speed motion analysis. Exposure down to 1 μs helps freeze fast-moving parts without blur.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
