The Telemecanique XT518B1PAL2 is a capacitive proximity sensor from the XT5 series with a M18 threaded (M18 × 1) nickel-plated brass body and a PBT sensing face. According to the manufacturer it detects insulated or conductive materials. It is flush mountable in metal; nominal sensing distance is 5 mm and assured operating distance (Sa) 0–3.6 mm. Sensitivity is set by potentiometer, using the supplied screwdriver, over 2–7.5 mm. The output is a 3-wire PNP type operating as normally open (1 NO); connection is by a 2 m PVC cable.
The supply is 24 V DC (limits 12–30 V DC) with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. Switching frequency reaches 40 Hz; maximum switching current is 200 mA, voltage drop when closed is below 2.5 V, consumption is below 15 mA and residual current when open is 0.1 mA. A yellow LED shows the output state and a green LED shows power. Protection is IP67 and IP65 (IEC 60529), insulation class III (IEC 61140); operating temperature is -25 °C to +70 °C. Body length is 70 mm, net weight 0.15 kg.
