The Telemecanique XT218A1PCM12 is a capacitive proximity sensor from the XT2 series with a cylindrical M18 threaded (M18 × 1) plastic body. According to the manufacturer it detects insulated or conductive materials. It is non-flush mountable; the nominal sensing distance is 8 mm and the assured operating distance (Sa) is 0–5.8 mm. The sensing distance is set with the potentiometer on the body within an adjustment zone of 0–12 mm. The output is a 4-wire PNP type providing both a normally open and a normally closed function (1 NO + 1 NC); the supply is 12–24 V DC.
Supply voltage limits are 10–30 V DC with reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. The switching frequency reaches 200 Hz, the maximum switching current is 400 mA, the voltage drop in the closed state is below 2.5 V and current consumption is below 25 mA. Residual current in the open state is 0.1 mA. Connection is by a 4-pin male M12 connector, and a yellow LED shows the output state. The degree of protection is IP67 (double insulation, IEC 60529) and the operating temperature range is -10 °C to +60 °C. The fixing nut tightening torque is 3 N.m.
