The MV-CH120-10UM(EoL) is the monochrome camera that pushes the IMX304-based 12 MP frame to 23.1 fps using USB3.0 bandwidth, more than double the 9.4 fps of its GigE equivalent. The 1.1-inch global-shutter design of the Sony® IMX304, its 40.2 dB SNR and 72.2 dB dynamic range are unchanged; UltraShort 2–14 μs and standard 15 μs–10 s exposure modes are available. HIKROBOT lists the model in delisting preparation, so for new projects it should be weighed against the current versions.

The USB3.0 link is USB2.0 compatible and the camera can be bus-powered (typically 3.5 W at 5 VDC); a 12 VDC input is also provided. M2 screw holes beside the interface secure the USB cable against loosening under vibration. The 6-pin Hirose connector offers one opto-isolated input, one opto-isolated output and one bi-directional line; hardware trigger, software trigger and free-run modes are supported, and the 100 g IP30 C-mount body connects to USB3 Vision / GenICam software.

Key features

  • Supports auto and manual adjustment for gain, exposure control, LUT, Gamma correction, etc.
  • Supports hardware triggering, software triggering and free run mode.
  • Adopts M2 screw holes for securing cable that connects USB3.0 interface.
  • Compatible with USB3 Vision Protocol, GenICam Standard, and the third-party software based on these protocol and standard.

Where it is used

12 MP monochrome at 23.1 fps matches tasks that ask for both coverage and pace: surface and lead inspection of semiconductor and electronic component packages, alignment on large-format printed circuits, and dimensional measurement of precision molded or machined parts. The short-range USB setup is an advantage where the camera is mounted on a robot arm or inside a compact inspection cell.

Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
