Telemecanique XX518A3PBM12 is an ultrasonic sensor of the XX5 series in the XX range with a Ø18 mm body (M18 x 1 thread) and a PNP NC output. Its nominal sensing distance is 508 mm, sensing range 50.8–508 mm and blind zone 51 mm; the sensing window is adjusted in teach mode and the assured operating distance is 51–508 mm. With a 300 kHz transmission frequency and 5° beam angle it offers 1.27 % repeat accuracy and a maximum differential travel of 2.5 mm. It detects a Ø2.5 mm cylinder up to 254 mm and tolerates a ±10° object deviation.
The 4-wire sensor’s PNP 1 NC output switches up to 100 mA with overload and short-circuit protection, its voltage drop is below 1.5 V and switching frequency is 40 Hz. Response delay is at most 15 ms and recovery delay at most 1000 ms. The 12–24 V DC supply (10–28 V DC limits) is reverse-polarity protected and current consumption is 40 mA. With an ULTEM enclosure and glass epoxy front face, it is 77.62 mm long and weighs 0.033 kg; it is rated IP67 and NEMA 4X (indoor use) and operates at -30 – +70 °C.
