The MV-CU120-10UM is the 12 MP monochrome model of the CU USB3.0 family; it reads the same Sony® IMX226 sensor at close to three times the speed of its GigE siblings, 29.2 fps at 4024 × 3036 in Mono 8. A minimum exposure of 20 μs and a 0–24 dB gain range come with 40.3 dB SNR and a 69.4 dB dynamic range. Since the sensor is a rolling-shutter type, the high frame rate should be used to shorten cycle time and take more measurements on stationary scenes rather than to freeze motion.
The USB3.0 interface is backward compatible with USB2.0 and the camera can be bus-powered, drawing a typical 1.9 W at 5 VDC, with an external 9–24 VDC supply also supported. The 6-pin P7 connector provides an opto-isolated input (Line 0), an opto-isolated output (Line 1) and a bi-directional non-isolated Line 2. At 29 × 29 × 30 mm, about 76 g and IP40 protection, it is shorter and lighter than the GigE models; a customizable ROI, horizontal/vertical reverse image output and USB3 Vision / GenICam compliance simplify software integration.

Where it is used
A 12 MP monochrome stream at 29.2 fps stands out in bench-top setups close to the PC with short cable runs: microscopy and laboratory imaging, precision calibration, and semiconductor or electronic component inspection. Owing to the rolling shutter the target must be still at capture time; the frame rate’s value lies in averaging many frames to cut noise or speeding up focus and lighting sweeps. Bus power over USB also makes it a practical choice for laptop-based field measurement and portable test rigs.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
