HIKROBOT MV-CU004-10GC V2 — Area Scan Cameras

The MV-CU004-10GC V2 is the color 0.4 MP member of the cost-effective CU series: from a 1/2.9″ Sony® IMX297 global-shutter CMOS it delivers 720 × 540 images in Bayer RG 8/10/10Packed/12/12Packed formats at up to 126.5 fps. Where its datasheet departs from its sibling is in stating the interface speeds explicitly as 1000 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s and in a storage temperature range that runs from –30 °C to 80 °C; the 6.9 μm × 6.9 μm pixel, 41 dB SNR, 74 dB dynamic range and 0–24 dB gain are identical. Exposure stretches from a 1–14 μs Ultrashort mode to a 15 μs–10 s standard range.
The network link is Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s and also runs on 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet infrastructure; 100 meters of cable without a relay make it easy to separate the camera from the processing PC. The 9–24 VDC supply and three I/O lines (Line 0 opto-isolated input, Line 1 opto-isolated output, Line 2 bi-directional non-isolated) are gathered on the single 6-pin P7 connector, with hardware trigger, software trigger and free run supported and PoE as an option. Typical consumption is 2 W at 12 VDC, the body is 29 mm × 29 mm × 42 mm and about 100 g, it takes C-mount lenses, and on the software side it is GigE Vision V2.0 and GenICam compliant.

Where it is used
Applications that decide by color on fast lines are this camera’s territory: whether a label color matches the product on a filling line, routing plastic parts by shade, rough color grading of agricultural produce such as fruit or seeds. At 126.5 fps more than one frame per product can be captured, while the 720 × 540 frame is aimed at judging the overall color rather than small detail.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
