The Omron A4EG is an enabling grip switch with a distinct feel for three easily discernible positions. Omron’s original double snap action mechanism lets the operator precisely confirm the enable position: released it is OFF, gripped to the middle position it is ON, and gripped further it is OFF again (OFF – ON – OFF). Besides the standard model, there are models with a 2NC emergency stop switch and with a 2NO momentary operation switch. An optional Holding Key provides a versatile method for selecting modes. Safety circuits are easy to configure by combining the A4EG with the G9SX-GS Safety Guard Switching Unit.
The enabling switch section has certified direct opening to EN 60947-5-1 (TÜV SÜD) and is also certified to UL 508, CSA C22.2 No.14 and CCC. EN ratings are AC-15 0.75 A at 240 V and DC-13 0.55 A at 125 V. Electrical durability is 100,000 operations min.; mechanical durability is 100,000 operations min. for OFF – ON – OFF (direct opening) and 1,000,000 operations min. for OFF – ON. Protection is IP66 on the standard model and IP65 on the pushbutton models. The switch is equipped with a conduit connector; the recommended cable diameter is 8.0 to 13 mm. The operating temperature is −10 to 55 °C.
