ARK-1000 is Advantech’s ultra-slim fanless box PC series: display-less, aluminium-housed control and gateway computers mounted on a DIN rail or a wall inside the cabinet. The series scales in one design language from a light palm-size computer that aggregates PLCs and field devices over serial/Ethernet/CAN to a DIN-rail system running edge-AI inference on a Core Ultra processor with NPU.
Two housings, one series
The palm-size models (ARK-1125C / ARK-1125H) measure 133 × 46.4 × 94.2 mm and weigh 0.7 kg, fitting inside machines or small cabinets and powered through a 12 V lockable DC jack. The DIN-rail models (ARK-1221L, ARK-1222, ARK-1250L, ARK-1251) are 60 mm wide, gather all connectors on the front and run directly from a 24 V cabinet supply thanks to a 12 – 28 VDC (ARK-1250L: 12 – 24 VDC) wide input. All models are fanless; operating temperature extends from −20 °C or −40 °C, depending on the processor, up to 60 °C (ARK-1222 x7433RE: 70 °C).
Processor options
Entry level covers Intel Atom x7211E and N200 (palm-size), Elkhart Lake Atom x6413E / Celeron (ARK-1221L) and Alder Lake-N / Amston Lake N97, x7433RE and Core i3-N305 (ARK-1222). For more compute, ARK-1250L offers 11th Gen Core i5/i3 with Iris Xe graphics and ARK-1251 offers Core Ultra 5/7 with a 21 – 22 TOPS NPU. Memory ranges from a single slot (16 GB) in the palm-size models to 16 GB built-in up to 96 GB in the DIN-rail models.
Connectivity and expansion
The common denominator of the series is rich industrial I/O: 2.5GbE Intel Ethernet, RS-232/422/485 serial ports (2 – 4), 8-bit programmable DIO, CANBus on most models (built-in or optional) and 4K HDMI/DP display outputs. M.2 E/B/M key slots take storage, Wi-Fi and 5G/LTE modules inside the housing; the iDoor slot on ARK-1222, ARK-1250L and ARK-1251 adds isolated CANBus, serial ports, digital I/O or extra Gigabit Ethernet via MOS modules. TPM 2.0 (on board or as a module), a watchdog timer and Advantech DeviceOn remote management are shared across the series.
Where it is used
As a machine and line controller aggregating the PLC/drive network, driving panel-mounted HMI and monitoring screens, collecting MES/cloud data over OPC UA/MQTT, bringing serial devices onto Ethernet (protocol gateway), CANBus communication in vehicles and mobile machines, and — with ARK-1250L/ARK-1251 — image processing and edge-AI inference. FST commissions the box PC together with machine-vision camera, lens and lighting selection as one system.
