HIKROBOT MV-CS020-60UM V5 — Area Scan Cameras

The MV-CS020-60UM V5 is the fastest member of this 2 MP group: thanks to the USB3.0 interface its Stacked BSI global shutter sensor reaches 180 fps at 1624 × 1240, roughly three times the 60.3 fps of the GigE versions. A 44.1 dB SNR and 67.5 dB dynamic range keep monochrome images clean even at that rate, and the 3.45 μm pixel pitch with a minimum exposure of 23 μs is suited to freezing rapid motion. As the V5 version in the USB3.0 branch of the CS series it targets high-speed single-camera set-ups that need no network infrastructure.
The camera is powered over USB3.0 (typically 1.5 W at 5 VDC) and is backward compatible with USB2.0; a 9–24 VDC external supply input is also present. The 29 × 29 × 30 mm housing weighs about 85 g and carries mounting holes on four faces. The P7 connector offers an opto-isolated input and output plus the bi-directional Line 2; hardware trigger, software trigger and free run are supported along with sequencer, contrast ratio, white balance and Gamma correction. USB3.0 Vision and GenICam compliance gives direct use with standards-based third-party software.

Where it is used
At 180 fps it suits counting and position checks on small parts moving along fast conveyors — screws, fasteners, electronic components — or imaging every cycle of high-speed filling and capping machines. The mono sensor’s high SNR, together with short exposure, also serves recording brief events such as vibration and motion analysis or droplet and spray observation. The USB-powered compact build allows operation from a laptop on lab and R&D benches.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
