The Telemecanique XS8D1A1PAL2 is a large flat-form inductive proximity sensor from the XS8 series measuring 80×80×26 mm. The data sheet gives a nominal sensing distance of 60 mm when non-flush mounted and 40 mm when flush mounted; the fine adjustment zone is 20–60 mm and 20–40 mm respectively. A teach mode button is located on the body. The 3-wire PNP output is normally open (1 NO) and switches up to 200 mA DC with overload and short-circuit protection. The enclosure and sensing face are PBT.
The supply is 12–24 V DC (limits 10–36 V DC) with reverse polarity protection; no-load consumption is at most 10 mA. Switching frequency reaches 150 Hz, voltage drop when closed is below 2 V and residual current when open is at most 1.5 mA. Connection is by a 2 m PVC cable, 3 × 0.34 mm². The enclosure is IP68 with double insulation (IEC 60529); operating temperature is -25 °C to +70 °C. Flush-mount minimum distances: 200 mm side by side, 400 mm face to face, 40 mm facing metal. Net weight is 0.39 kg.
