The Omron E6C3-C is a rugged incremental rotary encoder with a 50 mm diameter housing and an 8 mm shaft. It offers resolutions from 100 to 3,600 pulses per rotation with phases A, B and Z. The construction is rated IP65 and, with sealed bearings, oil-proof to in-house standards. The shaft accepts 80 N radial and 50 N thrust load. The maximum response frequency is 125 kHz, or 65 kHz when phase Z reset is used.
Three output types are offered: a complementary output (12–24 V DC) that can be connected to NPN and PNP open-collector inputs, a voltage output (5–12 V DC) and an RS-422A-compatible line driver (5–12 V DC). Current consumption is 100 mA max. and the maximum permissible speed is 5,000 r/min. The case and main unit are aluminium with a SUS303 shaft; the packed weight is approx. 300 g. The standard cable length is 1 m, and models with a 2 m cable are also available.
