The Omron E6B2-C is a general-purpose incremental rotary encoder with a 40 mm diameter housing and a 6 mm solid shaft. It offers resolutions from 10 to 2,000 pulses per rotation with output phases A, B and Z. Output options are NPN open collector (5–24 V DC), PNP open collector (12–24 V DC), voltage output (5–12 V DC) and an RS-422A-compatible line driver (5 V DC). The line driver output allows long-distance transmission over twisted-pair cable.
The maximum response frequency is 100 kHz for the E6B2-CWZ6C and E6B2-CWZ1X and 50 kHz for the E6B2-CWZ5B. The shaft accepts 30 N radial and 20 N thrust load, and the maximum permissible speed is 6,000 r/min. Models other than the line driver type have power supply reverse-polarity and load short-circuit protection. The case is ABS with an aluminium main unit; the degree of protection is IP50 and the operating temperature range is -10 to 70 °C. The standard cable length is 0.5 m, and a coupling is supplied with the product.
