HIKROBOT MV-SC2016EM-12S-WBN — Smart Cameras & Vision Sensors

The HIKROBOT MV-SC2016EM-12S-WBN is the 12 mm fixed-lens mono model of the SC2000E series of smart cameras. Its 1/2.9″ optical format, global shutter CMOS sensor with 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm pixels delivers 1408 × 1024 resolution images at up to 60 fps. Gain is adjustable from 0 dB to 15 dB and exposure time from 16 µs to 1 s; the pixel format is Mono 8. As a smart camera integrating the imaging sensor, processor and vision software in one housing, it can run standalone without an external PC or controller. Focusing is manual through the M12 lens mount, with a focal length of 12.4 mm on this model. Its compact 46 mm × 57.6 mm × 25 mm housing and approximate weight of 220 g allow it to be fitted into tight installation spaces.

A broad protocol set — RS-232, TCP, UDP, FTP, PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, FINS, MELSEC/SLMP and Keyence KV — lets it integrate easily into existing PLC/SCADA infrastructure, with data carried over a 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet link. The M12-mount 12.4 mm fixed lens trades the wider field of view of the 8 mm variant for higher detail at medium working distance, useful for precision tasks such as code reading or measurement on medium-sized parts. Up to 8 plans and 40 modules can be stored on the device, and plans can be imported/exported for sharing across stations. The IP65-rated 46 mm × 57.6 mm × 25 mm housing with integrated white light weighs approximately 220 g.

Where it is used

The 12.4 mm lens’s medium working distance and moderate field of view make it a balanced choice for barcode/DataMatrix reading, presence checks and position verification on standard-sized parts moving along a conveyor. It covers a narrower area than the 8 mm model but a wider one than the 15 mm model, avoiding a lens change on mid-scale stations; it captures both the part’s general outline and medium-sized details such as codes or labels within the same frame at adequate resolution.
