For 5 MP GigE applications that need color, the CU series offers the MV-CU050-90GC on the GMAX2505 sensor. It is a 1/2″ global-shutter CMOS with 2.5 μm pixels, delivering 2600 × 2160 frames in Bayer BG 8 at 21 fps with 37 dB SNR and a 63.8 dB dynamic range. HIKROBOT currently lists this model as being in delisting preparation, so availability for new projects should be confirmed with FST.

Bayer data travels over Gigabit Ethernet, with Fast Ethernet compatibility retained. Power is 9 VDC to 24 VDC, PoE is optional, and the color version draws a typical 2.5 W at 12 VDC. Power and I/O share the single 6-pin P7 connector (opto-isolated input on Line 0, opto-isolated output on Line 1, bi-directional non-isolated Line 2); the 29 mm × 29 mm × 47.6 mm C-mount body weighs 117 g and connects to standards-based software through GigE Vision V2.0 and GenICam.

Where it is used

Jobs that need color information and a global shutter at the same time are this camera’s territory: wire color-code verification on moving lines, matching colored caps and closures, and checking print on packaging. The 2600 × 2160 array resolves label and artwork detail, while 21 fps keeps pace with typical packing and filling lines. It can also flag color deviations when sorting food and consumer goods.

Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
