Through-Beam Sensors

The most reliable and longest-range detection type, with the emitter and receiver facing each other.

In a through-beam sensor, the emitter and receiver are placed facing each other in separate housings; detection happens when the light beam is interrupted — this is the type least affected by dust, dirt and color, and offers the longest range. Panasonic’s CX-413 Ver.2 series, Omron’s through-beam E3Z series, and Telemecanique’s through-beam XUB/XUM series models are used in applications needing long range or a dirty environment. Sensing distance and housing size are chosen to match the application.
