Sitting between the widest and mid-range lenses of the family, the MVL-MF1618M-5MPE offers a 16 mm focal length paired with a faster F1.8 maximum aperture than the 12 mm and 50 mm models in the same line. That wider aperture lets more light reach the sensor, helping to maintain image clarity and exposure consistency in application areas with less-than-ideal lighting. It still keeps the low-distortion, high relative-illumination optical design shared across the 5 MP FA series.

Where it is used
A practical middle ground for machine-vision cells where the camera is mounted at a moderate distance from the object and both field of view and light-gathering matter — component counting, surface-mark reading, and general-purpose part inspection on lines where lighting cannot always be increased. The larger aperture gives some latitude on exposure time compared with the 12 mm model.
Suitability depends on working distance, field of view, target characteristics and positioning. Selection is assessed on a per-project basis.
