Omron OS32C is a Type 3 safety laser scanner complying with IEC 61496-1/-3. Its small size, low weight and low power consumption extend the operating time of battery powered systems such as automated guided vehicles. It is intended for collision avoidance, presence detection and intrusion detection applications. 70 sets of one safety zone and two warning zones can be defined; the safety zone can be set up to 4 m and the warning zone up to 15 m. The minimum object resolution is configurable as 30, 40, 50 or 70 mm.
According to the datasheet, OS32C reaches PL d / Category 3 to ISO 13849-1, with a 270° detection angle and 0.4° angular resolution. The response time (ON to OFF) starts at 80 ms (2 scans). Two PNP safety outputs (OSSD) carry up to 250 mA load current, and warning and auxiliary outputs are also provided. There is an external device monitoring (EDM) input and 8 zone select inputs. Eight individual sector indicators and a 7-segment display show the status; reference boundary monitoring prevents unauthorized changes of the scanner position. DM models with EtherNet/IP provide status and measurement data.
