Diffuse-Reflective Sensors
Sensors that detect an object from light reflected directly off it, without needing a reflector.
A diffuse-reflective sensor sends light directly at the object and measures the light reflected back from it, needing no reflector or opposite unit — single-side mounting is enough. Panasonic’s general-purpose CX-400/EX-Z/EX-10-30 series — including the fixed-focus EX-40 series for background suppression —, Omron’s E3Z-D series, and Telemecanique’s diffuse XUB/XUM series models are used where a reflector cannot be mounted directly opposite the object. Sensing distance and background-suppression needs are chosen to match the application.
Panasonic CX-400 / EX-30 / EX-40 — diffuse reflective models (11)
Panasonic’s CX-400 Ver.2 series includes the diffuse reflective CX-424/421/422 (100/300/800 mm), the narrow-view CX-423 and the adjustable-range, background-suppressing CX-441/444/442; the EX-30 Ver.2 miniature EX-32 senses 50 mm; the EX-40 series uses fixed-focus convergent reflection to detect only objects at the convergent point (EX-42/44/43). All models below are verified against the manufacturer’s (industry.panasonic.com) current catalogue.
