Coaxial Light

A coaxial light uses a half-mirror to send light along the same axis as the lens. Because the light strikes the surface perpendicularly, flat and glossy areas reflect straight back into the camera, while even the smallest change in surface angle appears dark. This reveals scratches, marks and engraving on flat surfaces with very high contrast.
