Flat/rectangular-bodied capacitive sensors can be mounted directly on a metal surface and typically offer a larger sensing face than the cylindrical type. Omron’s flat-bodied E2K-F series models are used in applications needing a flat mounting area, such as silo walls or conveyor edges. Note: Panasonic has no capacitive sensor line, and Telemecanique’s 40×40 cubic XT7 capacitive sensor is discontinued; as the current XT catalogue has no flat/rectangular capacitive model, this card lists only Omron products (Telemecanique’s cylindrical XT2/XT5 models are on the Cylindrical card). Housing size and sensing distance are chosen to match the application.
