ATEX Certified Sensors and Switches for Hazardous Dust Locations
Combustible dust — flour, sugar, grain, wood, coal, metal powder, plastic granulate — forms explosive atmospheres in silos, mills, filters, conveyors and packaging lines. Equipment installed in these areas must be certified under the ATEX 2014/34/EU directive and the IEC 60079 series.
FST supplies the Telemecanique Sensors OsiSense hazardous dust location line: inductive proximity sensors, analog inductive sensors, limit switches and pressure switches, all certified for Zone 21 and Zone 22 with independent IEC-Ex and INERIS approval.
How to read the marking
| II 2 D | Equipment group II (surface industry), category 2, D = dust atmospheres |
| Ex tb | Protection by enclosure (“t”), protection level b — suitable for Zone 21 |
| IIIC | Dust group IIIC — conductive dust, the most demanding class |
| T85°C / T90°C | Maximum surface temperature of the enclosure |
| Db | Equipment protection level (EPL) Db — high protection, Zone 21 |
| Zone 21 | Explosive dust cloud likely to occur occasionally in normal operation |
| Zone 22 | Explosive dust cloud not likely, or only for a short period |
