Telemecanique XXT12A8M8 is an ultrasonic transmitter of the XXT series in the XX range with a plastic M12 body, used in a thru-beam system together with the XXR12A8KAM8 receiver. Its nominal sensing distance is 0.2 m and the sensing range 0–0.2 m. The transmitter emits at a 500 kHz transmission frequency with a 10° beam angle; repeat accuracy is 0.79 % and a Ø12 mm cylinder can be detected at 0.2 m. In the thru-beam arrangement there is no blind zone; the sensing range starts at 0.
The transmitter is supplied through a 2-wire connection: pin 1 (+, brown) and pin 3 (-, blue) of the M8 4-pin male connector are used. The 12–24 V DC rated supply (10–28 V DC limits) is reverse-polarity protected and current consumption is 50 mA. The enclosure is ULTEM with an epoxy front face; it has an M12 x 1 thread, 38 mm threaded length, 12 × 12 × 50 mm dimensions and 0.011 kg weight. Protection is IP67, operating temperature -20 – +65 °C and storage temperature -40 – +80 °C.
