What is VisionMaster (VM)?

VisionMaster (VM) is machine vision software developed in-house by HIKROBOT. It provides algorithm tools to build vision applications quickly and solve visual inspection problems, and is used for visual positioning, dimension measurement, defect detection and information recognition.

Development modes

• Graphical interface development: intuitive function modules for building vision solutions quickly.
• SDK-based custom development: custom applications built with the control and data acquisition interfaces provided by VM.
• Operator design mode: an operator is packaged into a dedicated vision tool and added to a user-defined inspection flow.

1000+ image processing operators

VM includes more than 1000 operators developed entirely by HIKROBOT, together with interactive development tools, and supports a variety of image acquisition devices. The tools cover four main tasks:

• Positioning: finds geometric objects such as circles, lines, spots, edges and vertices despite translation, rotation, scale and lighting differences; the position and presence data can be used for robot guidance and other tools.
• Measurement: measures the dimensions of parts and features.
• Identification: deep-learning OCR handles complex backgrounds, low contrast and deformed characters; 1D and 2D code algorithms read codes in multiple formats, positions, angles and lighting conditions.
• Detection: surface scratches and spots are detected with deep learning, and shape and contour defects are found despite burrs and noise; a standard-part comparison tool locates small differences.

Deep learning

VM provides deep learning modules for classification, object detection, character positioning and recognition, and segmentation. With the built-in graphical data annotation interface, the full process from image collection and training to detection is completed inside VM. Few-shot registration supports classification and localisation, and a module trained only on normal samples shows abnormal areas as a heat map.

Device management

VM integrates the SDKs of industrial cameras, smart cameras, HIKROBOT vision controllers and other devices. Cameras, I/O and light sources are managed from one interface.
